About Me

I'm from the south west of Ireland, and settled in Manchester. I value playfulness, creativity and curiosity, in myself and others. Childhood is a time of learning and stretching horizons. I want to help a child explore the world around them, widening our curiosity. For me, image making and story telling is the way that I can help a child engage with their natural curiosity. The practice keeps me curious too.

I'm pretty easily amused, and enjoy sharing simple pleasures with people; telling stories and jokes, enjoying nature and all the beautiful and interesting and silly things people make. I like having fun with my image making, and want to engage people with a bit of silliness.

I'm a graduate of the Cambridge School of Art Children's Book Illustration MA. My graduating project The Deers Cry from that year was shortlisted for the Batsford Prize 2019.

My debut picturebook Big Dance was published by ChildsPlay International in 2021, and was longlisted for the Klaus Flugge prize in 2022. It was chosen for the 2024 Summer Reading Challenge by The Reading Agency.

In 2022 I was supported in my illustration practice by Arts Council England, and gratefully received a DYCP grant to develop my portfolio and explore new themes.

I'm a member of the AOI and the SOA, and I am currently seeking representation.

I love the puzzle of image making, and have been fascinated and perplexed by everything I've learned while on the MA. Long may the fascination continue!
